Day 119

A famous natural product of Canada is the maple syrup. It is made from the xylem sap of maple trees. The trees can be tapped by boring holes into their trunks and collecting the exuded sap. The sap is processed by heating to evaporate most of the water, leaving the concentrated syrup. Maple syrup was first collected and used by the indigenous peoples of North America. Afterwards the practice was adopted by European settlers. Nowadays the maple syrup production is still centred in northeastern America.

Day 118

Today we had dinner at Abruzzi. An Italian Restaurant in 119 King St., London. The atmosphere was great, the food was good, the prices to high. From me 70%

Day 114

Champions League Final Day

We watched the match on a screen at the German Canadian Club in London.
The atmosphere was ok, the match was awesome. Dortmund was really a worthy opponent.

However, congratulations to Bayern Munich!!!

The old German font is horrible indeed!

Day 113

What is it with these blue pens?
I see them everywhere, in restaurants, classmates used them and there is also a horrendous amount in our house!!!

Maybe they are cheap?

Day 111

The radio program in Canada is as bad as in Germany. Lousy music, a lot of advertising and plenty of blah blah! In our holiday we drove above 2000 kilometres, radio was off the most of the time. The only ray of hope is a local rock station in London, FM96. Only the music is a little bit better...

Day 110

I visited my language school in order to meet some classmates and get the results from the last test. My average over all weekly test was 92.3 % :)

Only 100m from school is a Starbucks. Last month I had sometimes lunch there. Today a car crashed into the shop. Fortunately no one was seriously hurt.

Day 108

Ottawa

Before we left Ottawa we visited the National Gallery of Canada. It's an amazing building with magnificent art. I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, it wasn't allowed to take pictures of the art. The spider in the front of the National Gallery is called Maman. The sculpture by the artist Louise Bourgeois is 9 m high. Her sac containing 26 marble eggs. "Maman" is French for "mother".

Day 107

Ottawa

Ottawa is really a nice city. A lot of green areas, great buildings, museums, restaurants, ...
I would also recommend to rent a bike in order to use the bikeways.

Parliament of Canada
Library of Parliament
Parliament Hill
Bank of Canada (the old building inside the new)
Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica of Ottawa (possibly photographed with the car of the priest ... or god)
Ottawa Convention Centre
Canadian Tulip Festival
The Ottawa locks

Day 106

Québec/Ottawa

view from the Citadelle de Québec
Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac with a little bit more sunlight

After a drive from about 4.5 hours we arrived in Ottawa, the capital of Canada and we could follow the sunset from our hotel room on the 25th floor. :)
